About Webinar

Corrosion protection systems increase structural integrity and longevity, but by how much depends on the design. Modeling and simulation help engineers understand how corrosion phenomena will impact a particular structure, enabling them to optimize their design accordingly. The COMSOL software platform, together with the add-on Corrosion Module, provides dedicated features for modeling corrosion processes, considering various physical phenomena, such as species transport mechanisms in the electrolyte and electrochemical reactions occurring at electrolyte–metal interfaces. The software includes functionality to facilitate the modeling of corrosion protection devices, such as systems based on sacrificial anodes or impressed current. Attend this webinar to see how Multiphysics simulation can help engineers better predict and understand corrosion processes and design effective protection systems. We will give an overview of the modeling capabilities of COMSOL using examples of galvanic corrosion and cathodic protection. The presentation will then conclude with a Q&A session.

Key Discussion Points

    • Gain insight into the potential impact of modeling and simulation for both corrosion and cathodic protection systems.
    • Learn which categories of corrosion and cathodic protection can be modeled.
    • See a brief demonstration of the capabilities of COMSOL.
    • Learn about the specific software features in COMSOL and the Corrosion Module that make modeling easier.

We will answer any questions you may have during the presentation or at the end of the session.
